The short version:
I live in Pennsylvania, where I work as a librarian. My fiction has appeared in Daily Science Fiction, Deep Magic, Metaphorosis, Andromeda Spaceways Magazine, and Beneath Ceaseless Skies. I have a fondness for retold fairy tales, hopepunk, and happily ever after. When my nose isn’t buried in a book, I’m frequently found talking to birds or gazing at the stars.
Long version:
I’ve been writing since I was in elementary school. My early stories inevitably involved unicorns and a blonde princess named Katie, and I wrote them with great excitement. The excitement remains, although the blonde princesses and unicorns are few and far between now.
In 2011, I attended the Odyssey Writing Workshop. For anyone interested in writing fantasy, science fiction, or horror (collectively known as speculative fiction), I highly recommend taking the time to do this. Because of my attending Odyssey, I made my first professional sale to Daily Science Fiction. I’ve since sold stories to Deep Magic, Metaphorosis, Andromeda Spaceways Magazine, and Beneath Ceaseless Skies, among others. I have a fondness for retold fairy tales, hopepunk, and happily ever after.
I spend my days working as a librarian. When my nose isn’t buried in a book, you can usually find me talking to birds or gazing at the stars. I live in Pennsylvania with The Wonderful Husband and two adorable parakeets.
If you’re wondering how to pronounce my last name, Yelinek has two acceptable pronunciations. The everyday one: YELL-i-neck. The fancy one: Ye-LYNN-eck.
As proof that writers really do have an unquenchable need to write, here is one my favorite pictures of me, taken while on a trip to Baffin Island, Arctic Canada, to see narwhals.
